Grey Water Reuse

What’s greywater? Its not always grey! Greywater is a specific term that is applied to some of the water in your drains. It applies to water form your hand washing sinks, showers, and clothes washers. While polluted, it does not usually contain any dangerous chemicals or pathoges. With minimal filtration and treatment, it can be reused to flush toilets, or irrigate your landscape. Some of the ingredients in the soaps and oils you wash with can even act as fertilizers for landscape plants.

Below: a simple diagram showing a very basic grey water reuse system.

Our Greywater reuse systems can range from single point source reuse, to total facility collection and reuse. Greywater reuse can significantly reduce your total water use and water operating costs. Toilet flushing is typically 30% of the indoor water use in a residence, and can even be higher in an office or place of business. using greywater to flush toilets instead of municipal water can significantly reduce your water use. See graphic to the left for a breakdown of average residential water use.
