H2Options, Inc. is a full design-build firm specializing in water efficient technology. The systems we design and build include: rainwater harvesting, high efficiency landscape irrigation, greywater reuse, and other specialty systems. Simply put, we provide integrated water systems that combine cutting edge products and professional service to significantly reduce water use and operating costs.

Position Overview:

The installation management position at H2Options will include traditional functions of a construction superintendent, as well as some functions of a service/repair manager. This position is ideal for someone who is desiring a greater level of challenge and opportunity in their professional development, and thrives doing a job that is different from day to day. The chosen applicant will be someone who excels in diverse situations and can perform complex assessments and tasks with minimal guidance.

Applicants for this position must be willing to take responsibility in any situation they are placed in or find themselves in. This does not entail being responsible for all the causes of a situation, but does entail taking action towards resolving issues related to work being performed by Rainwater Harvesting Systems, Inc. Willingness to be responsible a situation can best be describes as: A desire to understand a situation from multiple angles and to discover and initiate a resolution that has H2Options highest good in mind.

Function of Job:

Under administrative supervision from Project Manager; to plan, coordinate, perform and supervise new construction installation, retrofit installation, and service/ maintenance of water conservation systems as mentioned above.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, coordinates, performs and supervises the work of the employees on construction projects.

  • Performs physical tasks related to system installation and maintenance as needed.

  • Determines work priorities and coordinates work activities within the design area and/or with others outside of the office; apportions work among employees according to abilities or specialized training.

  • Coordinates new construction projects, which involves scheduling meetings and reviewing projects (e.g., contracts, specifications, blueprints) as necessary.

  • Collaborates with Rainwater Harvesting Systems' project manager on the supervision of all work operations.

  • Keeps records on material costs, work performed and is responsible for the control of costs of materials and labor.

  • Maintain tools, vehicles and trailers in clean and organized manner. Perform weekly inventory of tools and weekly maintenance on vehicles.

  • Exercises control over rate of construction progress in order to complete construction project within time limits; schedules jobs and operations.

  • Estimates materials needed for specific jobs; estimates manpower needed for specific jobs.

  • Leads inspection and commission of day to day construction work to enforce conformity to specifications.

  • Acts as an adviser on job related problems.

  • Deals with individuals demanding information or service, such as agencies, department heads or others.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Any combination totaling 4 years (48 months) from the following categories of experience:

  • Work experience in building construction, remodeling, construction project coordination experience, plumbing, irrigation installation or other related industry.

  • College or vocational course work in the area of construction project coordination, building construction, plumbing or closely related field.

  • About 30 semester hours equals 1 year (12 months) Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals 2 years (24 months) about 90-semester hours equals 3 years (36 months) Bachelors Degree or higher (120 semester hours) equals 4 years (48 months).

  • 2 years of supervisory experience in building construction trade (these 2 years can also qualify for 2.a).

Personal Attributes Needed to Undertake the Job:

  • Knowledge of all phases of building construction, including work commonly done by the various building crafts.

  • Knowledge of building systems, especially plumbing/water piping, but also including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.

  • Knowledge of building material costs and wages.

  • Ability to supervise, instruct and correct employees.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.

  • General computer, writing and database skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with general contractors, supervisors, etc.

  • Ability to thrive with little or no guidance once a framework and general guidelines have been set for a job or task.

  • Must posses excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Is naturally oriented to problem solving. One who recognizes that a problem exists on ones own and initiates a logical solution is problem-solving oriented.

  • Must posses excellent follow through skills. Once a task is designated it should be followed to completion and then reported back to the project manager/administrator.

  • Technically savvy. Must be willing to analyze and understand systems or aspects of a system that one is not normally familiar with.

  • Must posses the fortitude necessary to generate self motivation in difficult situations.

  • Must desire new challenges regularly. If you desire a routine job with a learning curve only at the beginning, this is not a job for you. As the rainwater harvesting/water conservation industry develops, there are always new challenges and steep learning curves.

  • Must be a team player, willing to collaborate with other members of the Rainwater Harvesting Systems team regularly.

  • Must be able to represent Rainwater Harvesting Systems, Inc. in a professional manner at all times.

Compensation: Average annual starting compensation of $30,000 to $40,000 commensurate with experience and performance. Opportunities for overtime pay.

  • Average of 3 days sick pay and 5 days of vacation pay for 1st year, with standard increase in number of days annually.

  • Opportunity to participate in employee health insurance program following 90 day probationary period.

  • Travel expenses and per diem paid by company for work-related travel.

  • Opportunity for pay increase with scheduled 6-month and annual performance review.

The founder of H2Options Inc, Rodney Love, upon learning that about half of the potable water supply in the dallas area is used to water landscapes, felt he must do something. While an undergraduate student at UNT, Steven began to develop a passion for sustainability and resource conservation, especially water. Shortly after graduating,with a with a B.S. In Biology/Chemistry, he applied himself fully to natural resource conservation in the industry of water conservation. He has worked in the field of rainwater harvesting since 2005. Steven is an ARCSA Accredited Professional, and as a Texas Licensed Irrigator with 6 years experience, specializing in high efficiency landscape irrigation, he understands the importance of maximizing our freshwater resources. After serving as operations manger at H2Options, Inc., he is currently CEO.

Mark Pape

CFO, Chariman

Mark E. Pape is a retired financial executive with over 30 years of experience in senior financial management, investment banking and auditing. He is currently acting as Chairman of H2Options, Inc., a rainwater harvesting design and installation firm based in Denton, Texas. Mark co-founded H2Options, Inc. in 2009 as a expression of his long-standing personal interest in water conservation.

Mark has served as the chief financial officer of Affirmative Insurance Holdings, Inc., HomeVestors of America, Inc., LoanCity.com, United Dental Care, Inc. and American Income Holding, Inc. In addition, he has served on the board of directors and audit committees of publicly traded, privately held and nonprofit organizations and as the VP of Strategic Planning for Torchmark Corporation, an S&P 500 company. Mark has extensive entrepreneurial financial experience having been the President and Chief Executive Officer of R.E. Technologies, Inc., a start-up technology venture providing the multifamily housing industry with marketing management software tools and Chief Financial Officer of LoanCity.com, a venture capital-backed e-commerce mortgage-bank with internally developed proprietary software for the residential mortgage brokerage industry. From 1979 through 1991, Mr. Pape worked as an investment banker at several firms, including Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., The First Boston Corporation and Merrill Lynch Capital Markets.

Mark has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1975. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Hotel and Food Service Management from Florida International University and an AB degree from Harvard College. He is an ARCSA Accredited Professional (rainwater harvesting) and a Licensed Irrigator (Texas).

 

Mike Stephens

Chief Technician

After working in the oil and natural gas industry, Mike became passionate about sustainability. After working in the field of water conservation since 2006, his passion for sustainability has grown. Serving as the Chief Technician of H2Options, his knowledge and expertise encompass pumping, hydraulic, and electrical systems; all of which are vital to modern water conservation systems.

Andie's passion for environmental conciousness is exhibited in all aspects of her life: as a mother, artist, and active member of her community. Through involvement in several sustainable home building projects she has found a way to apply her skills as a sculptor toward practicing building techniques that encourage sustainable living.
